Baltic, IOW Phytoplankton monitoring

This is a collection of phytoplankton images taken at several stations in the Baltic Sea. The sampling was carried out by the Baltic Sea Research Institut Warnemünde ( IOW ) which is a member of the Science Association Leibnitz. Most of the stations are long-term investigation stations of the HELCOM Monitoring. The coastal IOW station Heiligendamm with weekly sampling at the seabridge Heiligendamm shows the seasonal succession of the dominant groups of microalgae. The collection shows light and SEM microphotographs of algae-groups which were found in water column and in sediment trap samples.
