Marine and freshwater protist images

This collection by Wolfgang Bettighofer contains a diverse array of different phytoplankton groups. The collection includes marine and brackishwater species from North Sea and Baltic respectively, but also freshwater species from across Germany. The images were obtained by light and in some cases scanning electron microscopy. Some records are the result of image stacking. The resulting composite images provide a much greater focal depth than would otherwise have been possible.
