Elbe Flood 2013 Monitoring image collection

This collection of images illustrates the influence of the freshwater input from the Elbe flood on the phytoplanktoncommunity in the German Bight. Net and Niskin bottle samples will illustrate any changes in the composition of the phytoplankton at varying distances from the Elbe estuary and and different stages of the flood event. The image above shows the salinity, as measured by a ferrybox onboard the research vessel Uthörn, on the Helgoland transects Elbe and Eider and on the connecting trip between the two transects. All images shown here originated from net samples (20 µm mesh size).
